Should You Migrate Your CRM or Put a Governance Proxy in Front of It?
Once a team accepts that its agents need controls, there are two routes. Move the data to a system designed with agents in mind, or keep the current CRM and put a controlling layer between it and the agents. Both are legitimate.
To be clear: AI PRO CRM is a hosted CRM in its own right, not a proxy in front of another CRM. Choosing it means taking the migration path.
The migration path
What you get: one system where agents are named identities with owners, their own credentials and a preset limiting what they can do. In AI PRO CRM that means read access through MCP, internal company notes as the only agent write, a per-agent daily write cap, a call ledger, and row-level security forced on every tenant table.
What it costs: moving data, retraining, rebuilding anything that depended on the old tool, and a period of running two systems. AI PRO CRM has no import tool and no third-party integrations today, so records are entered by hand or loaded through the REST API, and anything that relied on your old CRM's app ecosystem needs a new plan.
Best when: the current CRM is lightly used and the team can script a load against an API.
The proxy path
What you get: agents talk to a proxy that applies identity, rules and logging before forwarding permitted calls to the existing CRM.
What it costs: a proxy only governs what goes through it. UI edits and other integrations bypass it, so its log is partial. Field mappings must track the vendor's schema. Anything held for review lives outside the CRM, in a system someone has to build and run.
Best when: the CRM is deeply embedded, many integrations depend on it, or migration is not possible this year.
The questions that decide it
- How many integrations write to the CRM today, and could they all go through a proxy?
- How does the current vendor price access for agents?
- Do you need a complete record of agent activity or a mostly complete one?
- How many records would move, and who writes the load script?
A hybrid
A lower-risk option is a pilot. Move one team or one slice of accounts, point a few read-only agents at it, leave everything else in place and decide after a few months.
FAQ
Can AI PRO CRM act as a proxy for another CRM?
No. It is a standalone hosted CRM and does not forward calls to other CRMs.
How do we move our existing data in?
There is no import tool yet. Small datasets can be entered by hand; larger ones can be loaded with a script against the REST API. Contact us to discuss API access before you commit.
